The Temmy’s Challenge

As anyone who’s ever lived with me knows, I love cereal. When I was younger, I would eat 3 bowls every morning, and sometimes top that off with a Carnation Instant Breakfast. Now that I’m older (and my metabolism isn’t quite what it used to be), I try to keep myself to a 1 to 1.5 bowl-a-day limit. Still, if I don’t eat a little cereal in the morning, I feel a bit off for most of the day. I’m weird, I know.

In Kenya, I’ve found myself gravitating to Temmy’s brand cereal. For one, it’s much cheaper than the rest of the cereal at Nakumatt, especially the imports. But I also get a kick of how close the flavors are to ones from the U.S. So, I just did a little bit of research into Temmy’s and found that they are made by an Egyptian food manufacturer called Mass Food. Appealing name, right?

Now, I’ve decided that I’m going to try to eat as many different Temmy’s cereals as I can before I leave Kenya in July. After the jump is the list of ones I’ve had so far, and I will continue to update this post as I add more cereals to my diet:

I bought Temmy’s cereal at Family Dollar Store in Terre Haute Indiana. It was a cute snack pack. Four boxes for $1. I’ve already eaten the Cocoa Pops. Not very many in the box, but tasted fine. I collect the fronts off of cereal boxes and it is my goal to find as many different kinds that I can find. Thank goodness, cereal is not fattening and it is very nutritious. I love the generic and store brands. There are so many and I’ll never complete my quest, but it’s fun trying.

I tried Temmy’s cereal about a month ago when I was starving and found a box of Temmy’s Honey Pops at the bottom of the pantry. And to be honest I found the taste of the cereal quite disgusting, it was like stale tasting.

That’s funny, Honey Pops is probably one of my favorites so far. I just had the Raisin Bran and it was a bit like raisin covered mush, so not my favorite.

David, I don’t have a distributor in Kenya, but if you let me know more about what you’re looking for, I might be able to help you out.

temmy’s honey pops are the best..if you are saying they tasted stale maybe its due to poor storage in your pantry…..just know any temmy’s cereal will make your morning and day.
